Register BIMI trademarks

BIMI trademarks: Which regions approve their registration?

To activate Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI), your organization might need a registered trademark in an approved region. BIMI trademarks allow your verified logo to appear next to authenticated emails, enhancing visibility, trust, and email deliverability while helping block phishing and spoofing attempts.

BIMI trademarks FAQs

Does my company need a trademark to qualify?

No, your company doesn’t always need a trademark to qualify for BIMI email authentication. While Verified Mark Certificates (VMCs) require a registered trademark for your logo, some email clients now support Certification Mark Certificates (CMCs), which don’t require trademark registration for BIMI records.

Yes – your business can use multiple domains, and you can now also have multiple logos within the same domain, thanks to the new BIMI local-part selector (lps) tag. As long as your domain meets BIMI and DMARC requirements, the lps tag lets you display different logos for different sender addresses.

Your organization can get a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) without BIMI trademarks if you qualify under alternative verification methods. For example, government entities can provide official documentation authorizing the use of their logo.
