Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) is an authentication protocol that allows a business with DMARC-compliant domains to display their logos beside emails in the recipient’s inbox. BIMI works with DMARC to provide multiple benefits to your organization, including increased brand recognition, awareness, and trust; the protocol also improves email deliverability and reduces the risk of successful phishing and spoofing attacks.
Below, we’ve listed the email clients that currently support this email-branding authentication standard.
Currently, several major email providers support BIMI, enhancing email branding and security for organizations. The following platforms offer BIMI for authenticated senders:
Introduced BIMI support in iOS 16 and macOS Ventura.
Requires both DMARC enforcement and a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) for logo display.
Has adopted BIMI to improve email security and brand visibility.
Supports BIMI, enabling brands to enhance their visibility and trust in email communications.
Supports BIMI for authenticated domains.
DMARC enforcement is necessary; no VMC or Common Mark Certificate (CMC), which allows companies to display a logo without a checkmark, is required.
Requires a VMC for logo and checkmark display. Gmail also supports CMCs.
Now supports BIMI, allowing for brand visibility in inboxes.

BIMI not only strengthens security by reducing phishing risks (when combined with DMARC) but also boosts brand visibility in email inboxes. The amount of email providers adopting BIMI is increasing, allowing more businesses to enhance their email marketing impact and deliverability.
Implementing BIMI shows your organization’s commitment to security and brand integrity. Ensure your domain meets all authentication requirements, including a DMARC policy of p=quarantine or p=reject. Decide whether to get a VMC for full logo and checkmark display or use a CMC where possible for logo display without the verified checkmark.
